WIOA training funds and the approved program lists
The U.S. Department of Labor's program file lists 77,085 training programs from 9,000 providers on state eligible training lists, with cost and, where states report them, completion, employment and earnings.
How WIOA training money works
If you meet WIOA's rules for training services, your local workforce board may pay for a program on your state's approved training list. Limits vary by area. WIOA training is not free to everyone and is not automatic.
The board pays through an Individual Training Account, and only a provider on the state's eligible training provider list can be paid that way (20 CFR 680.300 and 680.410). Boards may cap the amount (20 CFR 680.310): the Gloucester County, New Jersey board's policy approved October 1, 2025 sets $6,000, for example.
Start at your local American Job Center: staff there decide eligibility and write the training account.
